28 weeks {hello third trimester}

How Far Along: 28 weeks {this marks the start of the third trimester!}

Random or maybe not so random, this week is always a little weird for me because I was born at 28 weeks…it is crazy (on several levels) to think about Owen coming this week when I am already a little in shock that the 3rd trimester is here (I mean…I better get on getting things ready for him to come out…I am so occupied with Hud that I haven’t really done much!)

Fruit/Veggie: A chinese cabbage (more veggie trivia for you:: it is also known as, “napa cabbage”, it is NOT the same thing as bok choy, is a symbol of prosperity in China) source

Size: Weight: about 2 1/4 lbs. Length: about 15 inches

Baby changes: He can blink his eyes, which now sport lashes. With his eyesight developing, he may be able to see the light that filters in through the womb. He’s also developing billions of neurons in his brain and adding more body fat in preparation for life in the outside world.

Best Moment this week: Right now it is raining. RAINING. Hallelujah! It has been so long since storms were a regularity that when the thunder started I totally thought the neighbor was pulling her trash cans down to the drive way.

Gender: Sweet baby boy. {Owen Paul Stone}

Movement: This kiddo is a funny one…it feels like he is flipping & rolling & fist pumping…and possibly break dancing. Also, I can’t really tell how he likes to lay, he definitely prefers my right side and he is up really high. I carried Hudson the same way. Part of this is because I have no torso…and it must just be comfy up there in my rib cage 😉

Food Craving: Pumpkin. Pumpkin everything. Pumpkin spice latte. Pumpkin scones (thats what I am making tonight). Pumpkin muffins. Pumpkin bread. Pumpkin pancakes. Pumpkin candles (to smell, not to eat. No pica here) but definitely NOT pumpkin PIE – bleh – too squishy. I’ve always loved pumpkin, but I love it even more right now.

Sleep: Sleep is about the same as the last time I posted. I pee a lot. And getting up out of bed to pee is increasingly more work & it takes me a little while to fall back asleep…but I still feel really rested, so that’s a plus!

Symptoms: I’ve felt really good lately overall. Pregnant, but really good. I was telling someone the other day that I am one of “those” people who loves being pregnant and for me the pros TOTALLY outweigh the cons.

My belly is a little more in the way…it takes more effort to bend over and pick things up…which I do about 90 bajillion times every day…and I’ve been randomly short of breath, which is annoying and because my baby likes to live in my ribs and my diaphragm doesn’t have as much room + extra hormones…gotta love ’em.

In non pregnancy related news we seem to have caught a cold, “we” being Jordan & I at the moment. Hudson was a little stuffy the other day (before Jordan got it) and I started him on my naturopathic baby remedies regimen and his symptoms went away pretty quick.

Jordan got it next and felt pretty bad yesterday, but better today. I woke up a little stuffy and it has gotten progressively worse but I still FEEL good. So I’ve got us started on my grown up remedies and am hoping we’ll both be feeling better tomorrow!

Some day I’ll post on the things I like to use when we are sick…

What I am looking forward to: My pumpkin scones coming out of the over. Seriously. Yum. Come on over and you can have one too 🙂

Belly pic: To come…I haven’t uploaded it yet…and I really want to go eat my scone. Nom nom nom 🙂
